Amid the Covid-19 outbreak, all GPS Academy programs and lessons will adhere to all updated guidelines provided by Local and Federal governments. We have instituted our new ‘Safe 6’ program that will apply to all activities, and we will update as necessary!
Golf is one of those sports which we can play at any age. When you start golfing at a young age, you have the opportunity to develop skills and apply your talent to a game which tends to treat you like LIFE. When you play golf at an older age, you appreciate the new lessons you learn every time you finish 18 holes.
The GPS Golf Academy offers many types of programs including private and group lessons and can be tailored to fit your needs. Contact Scott Rutter (e) Scott@golfps.org (p) 602-399-6908 or join us at the Academy and see for yourself.

ʻʻIf you are looking for a golf instructor, I would like to recommend Scott Rutter. I am a new high school girls golf coach. I had 11 girls come out for the golf season with 9 of them never golfing before. I didn’t know how I was going to teach them how to play golf. This is when I contacted Scott and he said, “Give me a week with them and I’ll show them how to play.” Sure enough, we spent 1 week with him and he had those girls driving, chipping, and putting. Each day was a specific lesson over a different part of the game. He broke it down to putting, chipping, swinging the clubs, driving, golf etiquette, and managing the course. He made it fun for the girls by playing games and holding competitions. He also has a swing analysis available.ˮ

GPS Golf Academy Policy:
Lessons at the GPS Academy are designed to build upon the fundamentals (Grip, Posture & Swing GPS) and if this is your first time to enjoy golf, learning these fundamentals will set the platform for your GPS. We play this game to have fun and that’s how we’ve designed our classes. Our coaches love the game and their enthusiastic approach is infectious.
All lessons will take place at Sun City Country Club. Our golf simulator and ‘Academy Clubroom,’ also allow us to conduct workshops and homework components of the program. Golfers enjoy the use of all Country Club facilities during lessons, including driving range, putting green, chipping area and the course. Respect of Club rules and regulations are required.
Maximum of 6:1 coach to student ratio (younger age classes 4:1)
Golfers will be able to learn, practice and apply the focus of each lesson.
The GPS Academy allows students to develop:
– Acquisition of Golf’s ‘Fundamentals’ (Alignment, Grip, Posture, Swing)
– Decision making skills
– Motor skill maturity
– Mental and physiological awareness
– Goal setting, planning and executing
– Golf and life balance education
– Accountability & Responsibility
All students will be required to complete a signed registration form and liability waiver before commencing their lessons.
Students are required to adhere to club and course rules, whilst participating in activities, lessons, practice and play. Self-respect, respect of others and property are all part of the game of golf.
After their first lesson students are required to wear correct golfing attire whilst attending lessons.
With notice of absence lessons may be taken on a different day, availability dependent. Notice must be received within 48 hours of the scheduled lesson. Students must be prepared to start a lesson at the scheduled time. In golf, if you miss your Tee time, often you won’t be able to play. Be on time!
Pick up of students will be up 30 minutes after the lesson’s completion. For example, if a lesson finishes at 6pm parents, caregivers or guardians can pick students up, any time between 6 – 6:30pm. After 6:30pm a donation of $1 per minute will be made to the GPS non-profit organization (which of course is tax deductible).
If a you are going to be late picking your golfer up notify Scott immediately at 602-399-6908
